Sam Loxton was an Australian cricketer who played 68 Test matches for Australia between 1948 and 1959. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium pace bowler. Loxton was a member of the Australian team that won the Ashes in 1953 and 1956.

Loxton was born in Melbourne, Victoria, on 12 February 1929. He made his first-class debut for Victoria in 1946 and scored a century in his second match. He was selected for the Australian team for the 1948 tour of England, but did not make his Test debut until the following year. Loxton scored a century in his first Test match, against England at Trent Bridge.

Loxton was a consistent batsman throughout his career. He scored over 4,000 runs in Test cricket at an average of 38.82. He also took 46 wickets at an average of 29.23.

After retiring from playing, Loxton became a selector for the Australian team. He was a selector for 12 years and was responsible for selecting many of the players who won the Ashes in 1989 and 1993.

Loxton died in Melbourne on 21 October 2011, at the age of 82. He was the last surviving member of the Australian team that won the Ashes in 1948.
